The natural park of Cala Mondrago, in the south-east corner of Majorca, is considered one of the best beaches in the Balearics. A natural bay with a small inlet to the open sea allows for peaceful bathing.
The tranquil and secluded beach is eight kilometers south of the town of Cala d'Or and its comparative lack of development has made it popular with holidaymakers and independent travelers alike.
Two sandy coves are connected by a pathway across the rocky headlands that surround them, with pine trees edging their way almost to the water's edge. The northern beach is the more sheltered, the southern one is less crowded. Both become very busy at the height of the tourist season but you can still rent sun loungers and paddle boats. There are gentle waves, and the water is warm; it is ideal for families. If neither beach is to your liking, the park consists of 2000 acres of forest, trails and farmland to walk through. If you find yourself requiring refreshment there are two restaurants and one beach bar.
